We cooperate with women from Bosnia and Herzegovina, having visited this country many times and met with numerous women’s activist organizations.
Why this is important to us:
- 1Exchange of post-conflict recovery experienceBosnian women have lived through war and post-war recovery, they understand how the transitional period works and what risks and opportunities it brings. They shared with us their knowledge of justice mechanisms, their experience in working with trauma, documenting crimes, and involving women in peace processes.
- 2Support and solidarityBosnian women, who have gone through similar trials, help our activists cope with burnout, feelings of loneliness, and helplessness. Our joint meetings have become a space for recovery and inspiration.
- 3Transfer of practicesBosnia has well-developed initiatives in women’s dialogue, work with memory, and educational programs. We are interested in exchanging methodologies.
- 4Preventing mistakeWomen from Bosnia told us what did not work in their context and what should be avoided (for example, formalization without depth, forgetting victims’ pain in the name of “unity,” and excluding women from designing the peace process).
